The man that makes all the dough around here!

The man that makes all the dough around here!

Hey there, folks! I've got a little story to share with you, and it's all about the bread – the homemade kind. You might have heard that I'm the bread guy around these parts, but here's the real scoop: the one who's bringing home the bacon (figuratively speaking, of course) in our household is my amazing lady.

Now, don't get me wrong; I absolutely love baking bread. It's become a bit of a passion for me. Besides the joy it brings, it's also a way for me to provide my family with something wholesome and delicious while making the most of our budget.

Let's talk numbers for a minute. Would you believe it costs roughly one dollar to make a one pound loaf of homemade bread, especially if you're smart about where you shop? That's the beauty of it. But here's the real kicker – my homemade bread doesn't come with all those chemicals and additives you find in store-bought stuff. As a result, about 90% of my stomach issues have disappeared. No more reaching for Nexium or Losec, and no more awful acid reflux.

I've been at this bread-making adventure for about three months now, and guess what? It's been three months since I last needed any stomach medication. Pretty cool, right?

Recently I have switched to only using Non bleached wholewheat mixed with non bleached all purpose flour, water, salt and yeast. This means no sugar, no added fats. Still makes an amazing, delicious bread with a fantastic crumb and a nice crust. This is a great bread if you are watching your blood sugars because it has a lower glycemic index and doesn't spike your sugars.

Also if you are looking for something with sugar and oil added for more texture that's easy enough to arrange.

I don't just bake for myself; I've been sharing our bread with a few loved ones, and I'm on the lookout for a few people who'd like a regular supply of my homemade bread.

$3 per pound, and I'll even slice it and bag it for your convenience. It stays fresh for about a week and can be kept in the freezer.

If you're interested and want to get your hands on some of this homemade bread, just drop me a message on Facebook Messenger or give me a call if you have my number. Your taste buds and your wallet will both thank you!

Signing off for now
Peace and love everyone
Looking forward to sharing

Daves Super amazing fluffy and delicious Simple Pancakes like grandma should have made

 Dave's Super amazing
fluffy and delicious
Simple Pancakes
like grandma should have made

Of all the recipes I have tried for making sunday pancakes with the kids this classic has been the easiest and the most consistent. Practice doing it exactly per the recipe until you know it and can make them right before you try changing it. if you want to add chocolate chips or blueberries etc add them to the liquid first then mix. Have fun. Enjoy and be patient. a 3 minute timer will be your best friend. If they take longer than 3 minutes per side your temperature is too low. If they burn the temperature is too high. find the balance on your stove and don't be afraid to mess up a few times. this is how we learn.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or substitute with milk)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (or vegetable oil)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Additional butter or oil for cooking
  • Maple syrup, fresh fruit, or other toppings (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Griddle or Pan: Heat a non-stick griddle or frying pan over medium heat (on my stove this is between 4-6). You can test if it's hot enough by sprinkling a few drops of water on it. If the drops sizzle and evaporate, it's ready. Or use an infrared temp sensor gun $25 amazon aim for 275F

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. This helps to evenly distribute the leavening agent and sugar.

  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat the egg and then add the buttermilk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla extract (if using). Mix well.

  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. The batter must be lumpy; over mixing will make the pancakes tough.

  5. Grease the Griddle or Pan: Add a small amount of butter or oil to the hot griddle or pan and spread it evenly. This prevents the pancakes from sticking. Wipe off access.

  6. Cook the Pancakes: Pour pancakes on the griddle to whatever size you like. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges start to look set, usually about 2-3 minutes.

  7. Flip and Cook the Other Side: Carefully flip each pancake with a spatula and cook the other side until it's golden brown, usually another 2-3 minutes.

  8. Serve: Remove the pancakes from the griddle and place them on a plate. You can keep them warm by covering the plate with a clean kitchen towel or by placing them in a preheated oven at a low temperature.

  9. Enjoy: Serve your pancakes hot with maple syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or any other toppings you prefer.

I refilled the dishwasher. Where is my parade!?

I refilled the dishwasher. Where is my parade!?

by

David A.A. Sullivan

In the realm of chores and tasks I dare,
I ventured forth, without despair,
To tackle dishes, stacked so high,
With soap and water, I did apply.

I emptied racks with utmost care,
Each plate and cup, a burden to bear,
And when it came to pots and pans,
I scrubbed away, like a steadfast man.

I refilled the dishwasher, pristine and grand,
A feat so noble, in dish-washing land,
Now I jest and cheer, with pride displayed,
"I refilled the dishwasher, where's my parade?"

With laughter and joy, let us celebrate,
This mundane task I did not underrate,
For in the realm of household grace,
A parade awaits in this funny embrace!

So here's my parade, a poem in rhyme,
For chores well done, in my own time,
In jest and love, we share the jest,
For a clean kitchen,
we both are blessed!

A poem for my Beautiful Nurse

In a world of selfless care you stand,
With a heart so giving, a gentle hand.
For two decades, your grace has shone,
In gray scrubs, you've truly grown.
With every needle, you touch a life,
Easing worries, erasing strife.
Your dedication, it knows no end,
My love for you, forever penned.
When you come home, tired and weary,
Know my love for you is never dreary.
You're my hero in gray scrubs so right,
In your love, I find endless light.

… or something like that

Early Life and College Career:

Born in 1962 in Wrightsville, Georgia, Herschel Walker displayed immense athletic prowess from a young age. As a high school football player, he was highly sought after by college recruiters, and he ultimately decided to stay close to home by attending the University of Georgia.

He immediately made a name for himself, rushing for 1,616 yards and 15 touchdowns in his first season. Walker's incredible performance helped lead the Bulldogs to an undefeated season and a national championship, securing his place in Georgia football history.

Over the course of his three-year college career, Walker amassed a staggering 5,259 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns, breaking numerous records along the way. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1982, cementing his status as one of the greatest college football players of all time.

In recognition of his incredible achievements, the University of Georgia retired Walker's number in 1985. He was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999, further solidifying his place among the sport's all-time greats.

But it's his time as a Georgia Bulldog that has had the most lasting impact on the sport and on the lives of countless fans and players who have followed in his footsteps.

In conclusion, Herschel Walker's incredible talent, work ethic, and dedication to the sport of football make him the undisputed greatest player in the history of the Georgia Bulldogs. Back to the Beat : The Amazing DJ Community

Back to the Beat: Rediscovering My Passion for DJing

My Journey from the '80s to the Digital Age
and the Amazing DJ Community I Found Along the Way

In the late '80s, my journey as a professional DJ began in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, where I was fortunate to be part of a thriving and supportive DJ community. Over the years, I've had the privilege of spinning tracks at sea cadet dances, school sock hops, weddings, and nightclubs, meeting incredible people from all over the world in the process. With the rapid advancement of DJ technology and the rise of platforms like Twitch, I've recently decided to make a comeback and reconnect with my DJ family.

The Early Days: Sea cadet Dances and School Sock Hops

My career started in 1987, playing for sea cadet dances and school sock hops. As time went by, I began picking up gigs at weddings and nightclubs. I lost count after DJing for over 500 weddings, but each one was an honour, allowing me to witness the magic of humanity at its happiest.

The Club Scene: Meeting People from Around the World

As a club DJ in the port city of Saint John, I had the unique opportunity to meet people from all over the world, thanks to the regular arrival of cruise ships near the waterfront. Engaging with tourists and music enthusiasts allowed me to expand my knowledge and music collection, creating an incredibly diverse and global sound.

The Power of Community: Supportive DJs and Lifelong Friendships

Throughout my career, I was lucky to be part of a tight-knit DJ community. We often travelled for hours to support each other at events, fostering a sense of camaraderie that I still cherish today. It's incredible how my love for music and people helped shape my life and create friendships that span the globe.

Embracing New Technology: Serato Pro, Pioneer DDJ-SX2, and Twitch Streaming

Recently, I've decided to dive back into the world of DJing by embracing new technology like Serato Pro, the Pioneer DDJ-SX2, laptops, and Twitch streaming. I'm also excited to join the zipDJ music pool, which will help me stay up-to-date with the latest tracks.

Building a Digital Presence: The Journey to Twitch Streaming

As I prepare to launch my DJ show on Twitch, I've been blown away by the support and camaraderie of the streaming community. Twitch has provided me with a platform to share my passion for music, and I'm eagerly working on setting up the perfect format and schedule for my show.

A Heartfelt Thank You to My DJ Family

Embark on this exciting new chapter of my DJ journey; I'm eager to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and share my love for music with the world once again. Here's to the power of community, the joy of music, and the magic of DJing.
